Editors: The following "filler" items are designed for use in your new-car or auto-show special sections

Disc Brakes Are Offered

Front wheel disc brakes are available on the 1966 Dodge Dart for buyers who want a braking system capable of withstanding the hard usage usually associated with rallies and road racing.

The disc brakes provide reliable stopping action even when subjected to continued extreme use or exposed to water, dust or high temperatures.

An optional power brake booster is available with the Dart disc brakes.

The clutch used with the 1966 Dodge Dart V-8 has a 20 percent higher spring load. Engineers say this provides better performance with little change in pedal effort.

"Trigger" Locks Shift Lever

A dual-trigger-like control is a safety feature on the 1966 Dodge Dart four-speed manual transmission.

The new shift lever mechanism has a "lockout" that prevents accidental shifting into reverse. The lockout is released manually by a trigger-like handle just below the shift lever knob.

The control is easily lifted by the index and middle fingers. This action allows the shift lever to move sideways into the reverse position.

Instruments and gauges on the 1966 Dodge Dart are easily readable because they are integrated into a black, satin-finish strip across the dash panel.
All-vinyl upholstery is optional in the 1966 Dodge Dart 270 four-door sedan. It's standard in station wagon, two-door hardtop and convertible models.
In addition to the 1966 Dart station wagons on a 106-inch wheelbase, Dodge offers the compact A-100 Sportsman Wagon on a 90-inch wheelbase.

Spacious Trunk

The 1966 Dodge Dart has one of the largest, unobstructed trunks in the auto industry. Its capacity is 17.3 cubic feet.

The spare tire is in a recessed well in the floor of the trunk and concealed by a hard cover and mat.

The lower edge of the trunk lid is just above the bumper, thus keeping loading height to a minimum.

Extra Protection

Dodge engineers say the large bumpers on the 1966 Dart are designed with "high impact points." This provides extra protection to the grille and the trunk lid.

Carpeting Increased

The lower third of the back of the 1966 Dodge Dart bucket seats is carpeted to provide protection against errant feet. Color-keyed carpeting is used across the lower portion of the door panels for the same reason.
More accurate speedometer and odometer readings are made possible on the 1966 Dodge Dart by nearly doubling the number of teeth on the worm gear on the transmission output shaft and on the speedometer driver pinion.
More than one-third of all Dodge car sales in the 1965 model year were compact Dart models.
Interiors of 1966 Dodge Dart 270 models come in six colors: blue, turquoise, tan, red, black and white.
The capacity of the 1966 Dodge Dart fuel tank is 18 gallons.
