Hello fellow Dart lovers! My first car was a 1967 Dart GT that I acquired
from my brother who was the second owner. The metal was extremely straight,
and had original paint. It was a Kansas car, so it had almost no rust. The
interior was awesome. It had only slight tears in the driver's side seat
when I let it go. It was equipped with the 273 powerplant (better than the
318, in my opinion), auto on the floor. (with the nice chrome center console
where you could slam it into first if needed.) I had this car throughout
high school and I let a friend of mine drive it once. He got on it real
hard and let it whine out in first before letting it go to second. When he
hit second, he got a 2nd gear scratch! I had never driven it like that
before and I myself was surprised. He was stunned. (this was aroung '84
when Dodge was making those *hot* K-Cars) When owned by my brother around
1983-1984 he used to race the 280ZX turbos and eat them for lunch. Anyway I
let this car go.... It had slipped a timing chain, and we thought (hey I was
only 19) the motor was shot and I sold it to the junk yard for $100. I was
unaware of how rare this car was.... If you know who has a cherry one, I am
always in the market.
Moving right along, I currently own a 1969 Dart Swinger 340. It has a
recent Q-5 Blue paint job and newly re-upholstered front bench seat. The
motor has been outfitted with headers, hi-rise stroker 340 intake, and a new
Holley 650 cfm spreadbore carb. A good friend of mine also has the same
year/make/model (but his is org/red) Dart with a freshly rebuilt 340, new
Edelbrock carb, and get this, Nitrous! Talk about twisting some RPM....
Kaleb (my friend) also has a 1965 Dodge Dart GT with a HYPO 273. (They have
a name for that 273 but I don't recollect) He is the second owner of this
car and it is in great shape. (Interior perfect, under the hood NEVER
touched, no funky wiring, etc. Some rust on the rear quarters though.) He
is currently searching for rear quarter sheet metal, so if anyone knows
where it can be found, I would appreciate E-mail. If you have any
where-abouts on great Darts, or just want to chat, don't be afraid to
E-mail me. (I'm not an AOLer)
